Most people think that monochrome and black-and-white are the same thing, but they aren’t. So what is the difference between these terms? Let’s find out!
Benefits of Minimalism
One benefit of minimalism is that it can help you be more efficient. When you focus on reducing your possessions, you’re forcing yourself to focus on only what’s truly necessary. One example is If I owned less stuff, my closet would be way cleaner and I wouldn’t have to waste time folding things I don’t need right now. If you want to become more efficient in life, consider trying a minimalist approach. By owning less, there are fewer distractions to slow you down when accomplishing tasks. Clutter often leads to a feeling of being overwhelmed, which can lead to procrastination (and other bad habits). In fact, some researchers say clutter may even make us feel physically ill.
And if you think about it, most people don’t really need much to be happy—it all comes down to how we define happiness. It could be argued that we live in an age where materialistic tendencies have taken over our lives. We spend too much money on unnecessary items and end up forgetting what makes us happy. Minimalism helps bring clarity back into our lives by reminding us of what’s important: family, friends, and experiences...not things. And if you still aren't convinced about giving minimalism a try, check out these benefits for inspiration!
1. You will save money
2. You will get organized
3. You will learn discipline
4. You will reduce stress
5. You will be happier
6. You will save time
7. Others won't be as jealous
8. According to American Airlines, a flight attendant's job requires more than just providing drinks and snacks to passengers.
Their job also includes preventing incidents like fights between passengers or turbulence-related injuries while staying calm during emergency situations such as engine failures or cabin fires. The average salary for flight attendants ranges from $17,500 per year for new hires with one or two years of experience to $52,000 per year with five or six years of experience. Experienced attendants who hold supervisory positions can earn salaries exceeding $100,000 per year. Flight Attendant Salary Ranges Flight attendants typically work for airlines but may also work for charter companies or tourism boards. Some flight attendants choose to pursue careers outside of aviation, such as becoming teachers or nurses.
The following table shows average annual wages and hourly wages based on experience level and region. Note that actual pay rates may vary greatly based on factors such as location, employer bonuses, and additional compensation types. Experience Level Average Annual Wages ($) Hourly Wages ($) New graduates 18,920 15.77 Less than a year 22,090 17.73 One to two years 26,590 20.11 Three to four years 29,630 22.43 Five or more years 52,030 35.00 Source: U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics May 2015 Occupational Employment Statistics Survey – published 2016 Minimum Requirements for Employment All flight attendants must be at least 18 years old and possess good communication skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure. They should also be willing to travel extensively and be able to lift heavy objects regularly without assistance.
Experience is preferred for flight attendants working for major airlines or for those planning to move up the ranks within the company or industry. Flight attendants for smaller airlines may be required to have only a high school diploma. Education and Training Most airlines require flight attendants to complete a training program that covers safety, customer service, and emergency procedures. The length of the training program varies by airline and experience level. For example, Delta Air Lines offers a two-week intensive training course for new flight attendants with no previous experience in the industry. United Airlines offers three weeks of initial training followed by 10 weeks of on-the-job training. Wages for Flight Attendants While it may be difficult to land a job as a flight attendant with no prior experience, starting wages can be quite low compared to other occupations requiring similar levels of education and skill.
The average annual wage for flight attendants in
the United States was $37,040 as of May 2015, according to the U.S. Bureau of
Labor Statistics (BLS). The BLS reports that flight attendants employed by the
largest airlines earned significantly more than their counterparts with less
experience. The average annual wage for flight attendants employed by large
airlines was $56,320 as of May 2015, according to the BLS. Smaller airlines
paid flight attendants an average of $34,640 per year. As with many other
occupations, salaries can be higher or lower depending on geographic location
and years of experience. The BLS reports that flight attendants in metropolitan
areas such as San Francisco and Seattle earned higher wages than their peers in
rural areas such as North Dakota and Montana.
Tips for
Designing a Minimalist Home
Does your home look more like a Pinterest board than an actual living space? If so, chances are you’re trying to fit too much in. This happens to a lot of people when they start decorating they want their space to be perfect, which means they want it packed full of stuff. But if you want your place to actually feel like a home instead of a storeroom, keep it simple by limiting yourself to one or two colors and having only one pattern in any given room. Don’t be afraid to let some things go either; if you don’t love something anymore, get rid of it! It might seem scary at first but trust us: You won’t miss those items. Plus, decluttering can be a very meditative process. The trick is not to do it all at once, since that will likely cause you to buy new stuff (which will then have to be cleared out again!).
Rather, make it part of your weekly routine by removing just one thing each week. Before you know it, your house will be clutter-free and you’ll be able to focus on what really matters: spending time with friends and family in a comfortable, beautiful environment. And don’t worry about making a mistake! Designing a minimalist home isn’t easy, but there are plenty of resources available online that can help. A Minimalist
Wardrobe Doesn’t Mean You Have to Sacrifice Comfort or Style
We know you’ve heard us mention it time and time again: a minimalist wardrobe doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice comfort or style. And we also know that it is hard for many of you (yes, especially those of you with many years of a stuffy corporate job under your belt) to let go of your business suits, button-downs, and pencil skirts. But trust us when we say that once you start paring down your closet, you will be amazed at how much more comfortable and relaxed you feel in your new clothes and how much more confident they make you feel in general. So if there are items in your closet that haven’t been worn in months or even years, consider donating them to charity; they will be put to good use by someone else who can appreciate them.
Then get shopping! You’ll be amazed at what you find. What does Minimalism Have to Do With Professional Dressing?: Everything! A minimalist approach to dressing allows for a more streamlined approach to professional attire, allowing you to create sharp looks without worrying about what shoes go with what skirt or how well that blazer coordinates with your trousers. In short, a minimalist wardrobe helps you focus on creating great outfits rather than trying to piece together an outfit from an entire closet full of options. How do I Start Creating Minimalist Outfits? First, begin getting rid of your excess clothing. If an item hasn’t seen daylight in six months or more, consider giving it away to charity; if something has never been worn out of its original packaging (or out of your home), donate that too!
Once you’ve pared down your closet, organize everything into three piles:
1) Keep,
2) Donate/Sell/Trash,
3) Maybe. Place any maybe items back into your closet where they belong; then take a break before making any final decisions.
After
all, no one is going to be looking over your shoulder while you decide whether
or not to keep an item it should be entirely up to you! Take Your Time When
Paring Down Your Wardrobe: No matter how long you’ve had a particular item,
resist the urge to toss it immediately. Instead, give yourself some time to
think things through before deciding whether or not to part ways with anything
else. As you sort through your items, remember this mantra: One year = one
item. That means that if you haven’t worn something in the past year, chances
are pretty good that it won’t be missed after you get rid of it. Be sure to ask
yourself the following questions before purging anything else: Does this still
fit me properly? Does this still look like I want it to look? Will anyone
notice if I don’t wear this anymore?
